Well, what can I say about my experience with Lisa Pescia? She is a marvel at what she does and what she doesn't know about the business in L.A., Neil Armstrong wouldn't know about the moon. I found it to be a great insight into the business and she really opens your mind up to auditioning processes. When working in scenes with Lisa she really gives you another approach and another way of thinking that you would never have thought imagined in playing with any kind of scene. She is a world of knowledge and her workshops are great fun and she is a ball of laughs to work with. If she is in town again, hit her up. Lisa' s class is worth every minute.
To my fellow Berliners - take this chance and give Lisa a shot! I've had the great pleasure to meet Lisa through a course I took at TVI Actors in Sherman Oaks, LA. She is a true professional, in both acting as well as teaching. Lisa was fortunate to be instructed by Milton Katselas who stands in line with other acting legends like Adler or Strasberg. Now a teacher herself, she conveys her excellent knowledge and experience to her students in an engaged, humane and simply wonderful manner. One of the things that stood out for me in her training is the fact, that every single student, no matter where they come from or at what stage they are in life, receives 200% of her attention. She really cares about you. That left a big impression on me and helped me tremendously in developing my potential.
The workshop with Lisa was full of important information. I learned a lot about which feelings you are supposed to have in order to provide a good play. To see the others was a special experience and helped me a lot as well.
Day by Day Class Schedule:
1) Audition technique. We’ll send you sides from a current US TV show in advance so that you can work on it before the class. You will come in and audition as in a real life situation.
2) Scene study/ Exercises. You’ll be paired with a partner and assigned a scene. We will work on them in a rehearsal format using various exercises / techniques to explore the material.
3) Scene study. Applying the lessons learned to the material in a performance format.
4) Career administration. What was your original dream or purpose in becoming an actor? What actions are you taking to move your career forward? We’ll refine these ideas and also work on understanding your casting and possibilities for more work. Plus, for those of you considering a trip to LA, there will be plenty of nuts and bolts advice about visas, agents, casting directors, theater and more.
You’ll want to bring something to take notes on...notebook or laptop.
Art communicates. I believe we actors are storytellers at heart. Whether it’s Stage, TV, Film or even the audition to get one of those jobs, the actor must find the heart beat of the story, connect and make strong, unique choices that support both the storytelling and their talent while staying true to their own authenticity as a “person” rather than an “actor.” This workshop is about using various techniques (and possibly new approaches) to find what works for you in creating belief and expanding your expression as an actor. As I’m a 25 year veteran of Los Angeles, this workshop will focus primarily on TV and Film work...getting it and doing it...However the techniques will also apply to Stage. Even if you have no immediate plans to work in LA, this workshop will be a fun, challenging yet supportive acting workout.
Due to the success of the previous workshop, we are adding an extra day so we have more time to go deeper into the exploration of scene work with exercises designed to maximize your growth and expression.
It was very inspirational, a lot of fun and the perfect amount of information about starting a career in th US - you get all the tools you need - and developing your acting skills. In my opinion, if you want to start a career in L.A., there is no better place to go, than this workshop.
This workshop has been hope inspiring, talent boosting and revelation enlightening. You'd wish there would have been more days, more people and just plain more of it. I can only recommend every creative soul to attend it. One would pray for other actors and teachers to contribute to and organise as many events such as these.
I started to work with Lisa Pescia in Los Angeles in 2014. Her way of teaching is very inspiring and uplifting. She is conveying her long-lasting knowledge and experiences very on point. Working with her in this workshop gives you a variety, from creating characters and approach them from different angels, how audition works in L.A. as well as how to take first steps in the Hollywood business. I highly recommend Lisa´s workshops as she is a teacher who really helps you develop further and brings you forward very much.
Lisa ́s classes are appropriate for all different levels of acting. She finds new ways of challenging and pushing the participants outside their comfort zone as an actor, but will never let you feel unsafe in her classes, which are conducive to experimenting and pushing your limits.
